gtd healthcare has been accredited as a Living Wage employer.

As the largest accredited employer in Tameside, Greater, Manchester, the organisation’s Living Wage commitment sees all employed staff receive a minimum hourly wage that is higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £11.44 per hour. The organisation has committed to implementing the new Living Wage hourly rate of £12.60 by 1 May 2025, an increase from £12.02.

gtd healthcare operates across North-West England, where 13.5% of all jobs (around 397,000) pay less than the real LivingLW Employer logo transparent_0.png Wage. Despite this, gtd healthcare has committed to the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers who wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to nearly half a million people and put £3.5 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

David Beckett, gtd healthcare’s chief executive, said he’s extremely proud that the organisation is a real Living Wage employer.

“We continue to be fully committed to supporting all our employees but being a real Living Wage employer is critical for us,” he said.

"It is a vital investment that reflects the value we place on our people who are on lower incomes.

“As an employer we want to go above and beyond our minimum wage requirements and ensure our people are rewarded with a fair and reasonable wage that much better reflects the true costs of living. While we have been paying our people the real Living Wage since 2021, being accredited provides additional visibility and cements our pledge that we continuously live our values and look after our people.”

Katherine Chapman, director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that gtd healthcare has joined the movement of more than 15,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like gtd healthcare, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
