Patients at City Health Centre can now access dedicated support, which aims to boost their health and wellbeing.

Charlotte Morrison, a former care co-ordinator, has been appointed as a health and wellbeing coach, and is working with registered patients to help them make lasting lifestyle changes.

Patients can request to see Charlotte via the practice’s online triage form or a clinician referral. The coaching, which operates within City Health Centre's opening hours, starts with a 15-minute consultation, followed by six one-hour sessions and a final follow-up a few months later.

Charlotte said she took on the role because she noticed a gap in the support provided to patients, which hindered their ability to achieve or maintain their health and wellbeing goals.

“The coaching focuses on the individual needs of each patient, allowing them to set and achieve their health goals with personalised guidance and support,” she said.

“Poor mental and physical health can stem from various factors. It can be overwhelming to know where to start. Through my coaching, I aim to show patients that even small steps are significant and everyone has the means to improve their lives.

“My role is to guide, not instruct. I use open questions and challenge patients to encourage new perspectives. Patients are experts in their own health, so I only offer suggestions if they are open to them. Success depends on the patient's commitment, but I know I have done my job if they feel more confident, accountable and selfaware of their health and wellbeing. The biggest changes might not always be visible, but the long-term effects are profound.”
