A GP practice has held a community engagement event to boost relations with patients. Hattersley Group Practice invited members of the local community, patients and their families to drop-by without an appointment on Saturday, 2 December.
Jayne Britton, operations manager, said the event was a great way to provide patients with more knowledge about the practice and address their queries. “Attendees had the opportunity to engage in conversations with the practice team including Sophie Packer, nurse associate, and Emily Walsh, trainee advanced clinical practitioner,” she said. “Patients learnt about our new liver health check pilot and had the opportunity to undergo general health checks such as blood pressure, height and weight.
“The team actively promoted the benefits of downloading and using the NHS app and guided people through the registration process, account creation and how to access a range of NHS services through the app. Also, attendees were shown how to use the app to order repeat prescriptions.” Members of the Patient Participation Group were available and they shared information about their role. Those who were interested in joining were provided with a link to register their interest. The practice is looking forward to organising more open events in the new year.
