gtd healthcare's Migrant Health Service has been applauded for becoming finalists in the Improving Health Outcomes for Minority Ethnic Communities category at this year's Health Service Journal Patient Safety Awards. This recognises the team's outstanding contribution to healthcare and reflects on the excellent partnership working with Manchester Health and Care Commissioning and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Jane Drummond, head of specialist services, said for the service to be shortlisted alone was fantastic but to become a finalist is a huge achievement. "The awards ceremony was great, it was inspiring to meet the other applicants and find out more about what they do," she said. "The awards help drive improvements in culture and quality across the NHS; the team is thrilled to be a part of this and acknowledged for our focus on ensuring the safety of minority ethnic patients. "We were delighted to be recognised and rewarded for our hard work and commitment to strive to deliver high-quality patient care." The Migrant Health Service's achievement is based on our people's ambition and vision and the demonstrable positive impact the team has had on a large cohort of Afghan people who have arrived in Manchester following recent evacuations. The service is responsible for providing the Afghan people with access to healthcare services, which include satellite clinics at the hotels where they can register at City Health Centre, and receive health checks, medication reviews, and COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. Many congratulations to the team, this is a fantastic achievement.
