Children and young people’s experience when accessing services is set to be enhanced following the recruitment of a paediatric lead. Maxine Wood, gtd healthcare’s paediatric lead, has a wealth of experience and expertise and will work across the organisation to provide paediatric clinical leadership and management to ensure the effective delivery of patient-focused care. Maxine said she is excited to shape and develop her role as paediatric lead. “I am eager to support the excellent care that gtd healthcare already delivers to young patients while bringing innovative and fresh ideas and approaches to the table,” she said. “I have 25-years of paediatric experience and will use the skills and knowledge I have gained over the years to provide the best possible healthcare for patients. Although I am new to primary and urgent care, I am keen to gain experience working in these areas and learn how we can help each other. “Key to my role is to look at the paediatric service we provide including our policies, procedures and pathways across the organisation. Also, I will be looking at compliments, complaints and incidents to improve patient experience. I will be providing paediatric training to our advanced clinical practitioners who are currently adult-trained. I’m sure I will pick-up much more along the way! “Since I started, I have found everyone to be extremely welcoming and supportive. It is evident that striving for continuous improvement and living the organisation’s values are firmly embedded. This has given me the confidence that I will enjoy my role here and I am looking forward to settling in and getting to know everyone. “Finally, I have enrolled onto gtd academy’s Leadership and Management Programme, which will no doubt support me in my new role.” For further information about the role, please email communications.gtd@nhs.net.
